The University of Arkansas announces a Call for Proposals for the 8th Annual SHE Festival of Women in Music to be held on the University of Arkansas campus March 6-8, 2026. Proposals may be for a performance of a work/works by a female composer (including original compositions), a lecture recital, or an academic presentation on a topic related to women in the field of music.
Time Limits:
Individual Work (Group Recitals): Max. 8 minutes
Standalone Recital: 20 minutes *A standalone recital must be a full 20-minute program.*
Lecture-Recital: 25 minutes (20 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A)
Academic Presentation: 30 minutes (25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A)
Procedure for Submission:
To apply for an individual work on a group recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed work by the intended performer.
To apply for a standalone recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed work or one of the proposed works by the intended performer and program notes (max 250 words).
To apply for a lecture recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed material performed by the intended performer and a short abstract (max. 250 words) of the topic.
To apply for an academic presentation: Submit an abstract (500 words).
Submission Restrictions:

No technology for fixed media or other sound playback will be provided for RECITALS in the 2026 festival. Performers will need to provide their own technological needs, such as laptops, speakers, pedals, etc. Lecture-Recitals and Academic Presentations will have access to typical classroom technology.
