The University of Arkansas announces a Call for Proposals for the 7th Annual SHE Festival of Women in Music to be held on the University of Arkansas campus March 14-16, 2025. Proposals may be for a performance of a work/works by a female or nonbinary composer (including original compositions), a lecture recital, an academic presentation, or an academic poster on a topic relative to the female or non-binary identity within the field of music.
Time Limits:
Individual Work (Group Recitals): Max. 8 minutes
Standalone Recital: 20 minutes *A standalone recital must be a full 20-minute program.*
Lecture-Recital: 25 minutes (20 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A)
Academic Presentation: 30 minutes (25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A)
Procedure for Submission:
To apply for an individual work on a group recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed work
To apply for a standalone recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed work or one of the proposed works for the Festival and program notes (max 250 words).
To apply for a lecture recital: Submit a 2-minute audio sample of the proposed material and a short abstract (max. 250 words) of the topic.
To apply for an academic presentation: Submit an abstract (500 words).
To apply for an academic poster: Submit an abstract (500 words)
